What Other Glampventurers Are Asking

faqs-what-is-glamping-off-grid-cabins

What is an off-grid glamping cabin?

An off-grid glamping cabin combines the adventure of camping with the glamour and comfort of a cozy rustic cabin. It offers a unique retreat experience amidst nature, without traditional amenities like electricity or running water, making it an attractive option for unplugging from modern life and reconnecting by immersing in the wilderness as a 1st-time settler in Canada.

What's the advantage of glamping over traditional camping?

Off-grid glamping maintains the thrill of the camping experience with the comfort of a rustic mountain cabin. It offers an adventurous escape off the beaten path in the heart of nature but in more convenient accommodations without conventional amenities, which precisely adds to the allure of the back-to-basics experience. This makes it an attractive option for getting away from city life to enjoy more genuine moments with loved ones, and connecting in a more essential way with the things that matter most in life, in a more comfortable stay.

What activities are available nearby these cabins?

Discover this unexpected paradise surrounded by 9,000 hectares of Crown land. Our cabins offer countless nearby outdoor activities for everyone, like canoeing, kayaking, boating, golfing, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, biking, or simply taking a dip. Enjoy stunning views in the wilderness while capturing perfect photos for your posts. Immerse yourself in wild nature each season, exploring local flora and fauna, birdwatching, starting a campfire with your crew under starry skies, playing cards or board games, singing with a guitar in hand, or enjoying the natural scents of the woods. Delight in the soothing sounds of flowing streams, waterfalls and the chorus of nature. The possibilities are endless for disconnecting from everything, enjoying a restful retreat, sharing special moments with those you cherish, and engaging in the many exciting and fun activities on this adventure!

Where are the cabins located?

They’re located just an hour north of Ottawa, Hull, and Gatineau via the #5 highway, in the natural adventure haven of Gatineau Valley. Nestled in the heart of the Gatineau Hills within the Outaouais region of Quebec, this area uniquely stands out for its unrivaled proximity to Canada’s capital city, with the stunning backdrop of Mont Ste-Marie resort and Lac Sainte-Marie municipality.

Can I bring my dog to the cabin?

Absolutely! We are proudly pet-friendly. Your furry friends are welcome to join your adventure. Just make sure to keep them safe, respect nature, and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the space.

Is there an age limit for children at the cabin?

Yes, for safety reasons, we kindly ask that children staying at the cabin be 12 years or older. The natural, rugged environment and surrounding woods can be too risky for younger children. Thank you for understanding!

Do I need to be in good physical condition to stay at the cabins?

Yes. Our off-grid cabins are located in rugged wilderness with uneven terrain. Guests should be in good health and physical condition to fully enjoy the experience. Please inform us ahead of time if you have any medical conditions we should be aware of.

How can we keep wildlife from surprising us inside the cabin?

To keep things tidy and ensure our little forest friends stay outside exploring their own habitat, it's best to refrain from leaving dirty dishes on the back porch or putting leftover food in the steel garbage can next to the cabin. Instead, it's recommended disposing of leftover food by burning it in the fire pit. Keeping all doors closed at night and the back door shut when not in use can help prevent curious critters like squirrels, mice, and ants from joining us indoors by entering the cabin!

What should I bring to the cabin?

For a comfortable and safe stay, we recommend packing:

  1. Indoor footwear. To keep the cabin cozy and clean.

  2. Mosquito repellent. Especially in spring and early summer.

  3. Headlamp or flashlight. It gets very dark at night in the woods.

  4. Warm clothes. Mountain nights can be chilly, even in summer.

  5. Hiking boots or sturdy shoes. Ideal for trails and avoiding poison ivy or ticks (though I’ve never seen one in 14 years up here!).

  6. Binoculars. Perfect for birdwatching and wildlife spotting.

These small items can make a big difference in your glamping adventure!

What's the cabins code of ethics and rules?

In order to ensure a memorable stay for all our guests, we request that everyone act with respect and by the principles of Leave No Trace Concept:

1. Plan ahead and prepare
2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces
